Phase 1 - January 29th
Session 4
Links to the Webex recording of the session are available to logged in participants here.
Purpose:
A deeper penetration of the dyadic characteristics of likes and dislikes. Also, a deeper understanding and development of the disciplines of the dyad. These disciplines include:
- Seeing that most (all?) dyads are not really two different things in tension, but two aspects of a single entity.
- Generating energy by holding the tension of the dyad.
- Refusing to give in to an easy or substandard reconciling impulse, holding out for a quality reconciling force.
- Holding the 'inner' tension of a dyad, even if the outer circumstance is reconciled by something. This includes revisiting 'old' dyads or experiences of tension to gain new insights and to see how there could have been different paths for the entry of the reconciling force.
- Doing the 'impossible'! When you hear yourself saying, "I can't bear this tension any longer." ... see that you actually can.
Approach:
At this point we can begin to move against our likes and dislikes, not from the point of view of trying to change them, but rather as a way to generate the higher levels of energies needed for a more conscious understanding of likes and dislikes.
Preparation:
Posting/sharing our experiences with the struggle of like and dislike. Decide which likes and dislikes you plan to struggle with this week. Early on in the week post this list to your blog so that you are openly committed to this struggle. It will give you energy for actually committing to the struggle.
